🙏HIGH-FIVE we survived 2020! While this year lo 🙏HIGH-FIVE we survived 2020! While this year looked NOTHING like expected, I realized this week that we managed to cram a whole lot more into it than I had realized. So here is a list of 20 of our 2020 highlights, lessons learned, and silly memories...
🥳
1. Took a trip to Cambria in January and resisted the urge to push past security and dive into William Hearst's pool

2. Had the privilege of being published on @southerncaliforniabride @aislesociety @everylastdetailblog and @voyagelamag

3. Baked a shameful amount of bread!

4. Raised monarch butterflies for the first time

5. Photographed a famous couple 😉

6. Found out that both of our cat's have lymphoma and even though that news is terrible, the stay at home mandates this year gave us the chance to make the most of our time left with them and care for them well

7. Celebrated our anniversary at home, and my husband kept me laughing with an AMAZING surprise blue velvet cake from @buttercreambakeries featuring both our kitties faces 😂

8. Photographed Alyssa & Jacob's super sweet elopement!

9. Read over 7,000 pages in 19 books

10. Did what I could to support my clients as they navigated through COVID and reschedule (sometimes more than once) their plans

11. Learned how to cut Collyn's hair and do my own acrylics

12. Spent more time on education this year

13. Highlighted some awesome wedding pros on my blog

14. Allowed myself time to unplug and disconnect when I needed to (which was A LOT! 😂 )

15. Spent more time by the piano learning to play and sing songs we love! -don't expect to hear anything anytime soon, we're pretttty terrible! 😂but we had fun!

16. Managed to play our way through all of Overcooked2 and not get divorced. If you've played, you know what I'm talking about!

17. Started an at home composting system so we could reduce the amount of trash we create and get some great garden fertilizer at the same time

18. Grew deeper bonds with friends, even though we were physically apart!

19. Finally Reorganized my pantry!

20. Learned to slow down and focus on the little things that matter most

🤗Share one thing you learned or accomplished in 2020 in the comments!⬇️
Not gonna lie, the winter blues have hit harder th Not gonna lie, the winter blues have hit harder than normal around here lately. I REALLY miss being out there and creating fun images like this one for my clients and loved ones 📷😔... It goes without saying that 2020 has pushed and pulled all of us in ways we probably never imagined. It's been rough, but one thing I've learned in life is that tough times often reveal what we're really made of and THAT is truly something to be grateful for. It feels like at every turn this year I've been faced with one difficult choice after another, but I keep reminding myself that at the end of the day the kind of person we choose to be is what matters most. As we enter into a new year don't forget to reflect on all the lessons learned in 2020. Were you stronger than you thought? I bet so. To everyone out there who's had to make tough calls this year: I see you, I appreciate you, and I know I'm not alone in that! Hang in there, keep enduring! I can hardly wait to see you all again. ❤️Keep safe!

I'm not sure why I'm even surprised, given 2020's I'm not sure why I'm even surprised, given 2020's insatiable appetite for all things destructive, but I am honestly quite shocked. We said goodbye to our beloved cat Optimus (pictured right) on October 6th, after his 6 month battle with gastrointestinal lymphoma. Within about a week, his brother Tikin (pictured left) has started displaying weirdly similar symptoms to what we'd previously observed in Optimus. 1 month and 10 days after saying goodbye to Optimus, we were told that Tikin also has gastrointestinal lymphoma. We are starting treatment to buy him some time and quality of life in the meantime, but there is no permanent fix. The oncologist told me today that if Optimus were still around they'd be sending DNA samples to a university to have this case studied because it's so uncommon for two siblings to have the same disease like this. I don't have words...
💔
Since the first diagnosis, I've been working on a personal project to photograph all the little things we love about them, and now these two mirrored images seem more significant to me than ever - Our boys, so different, yet so the same in so many ways. Despite our profound sadness, we are deeply grateful for all the joy they've given us the past 12 years, for whatever time left we have with Tikin, the fact that we still have eachother, and for all the support our friends, clients, and veterinary professionals have given us these past 9 months. Here's hoping we have more time left than we think...
