About Marbella Country Club
First built in 1989, Marbella Country Club is an award-winning 18-hole course nestled in the hills of San Juan Capistrano. Since its inception, Marbella's staff has built a long history of providing its members and guests with a luxurious experience, elevated service & hospitality, along with delightful chef-prepared cuisine.
Ceremony & Event Spaces
With over 3500 square feet of event space available, Marbella Country Club is able to accommodate up to 240 guests depending on your event style.
Wedding ceremonies at Marbella are often held on the Croquet Lawn which overlooks a great view of the course and a beautifully landscaped waterfall feature. There's also a staircase at the back of this lawn that makes for a great entrance as you start your walk down the aisle.
Along the West side of Marbella's 50,000 square-foot clubhouse, you'll find the spacious Valencia Terrace. This spacious terrace makes a great alternative space for your ceremony site and is commonly used as a cocktail hour area where guests can mingle before reception doors are opened. This terrace comfortably fits around 140 guests.
Inside Marbella's clubhouse is a small room they call the "Board of Governors." This intimate space is great for a small family or rehearsal dinner. You can seat between 18 and 30 guests depending on how you arrange your tables.
Just down the hall is The Banquet Room. It's the smaller of two areas where you could host your reception dinner at Marbella Country Club. This space features large windows that allow the natural light to filter in and gives you and your guests a great view of the property. You can fit around 100 people in this room and it is multi-level so the space works best for smaller plated dinners like a rehearsal.
Just a short walk from where the Banquet room sits, there's a larger space called the Catalonia Room. This space features beautiful modern decor, a built in bar area, a large cozy fireplace, and beautiful chandeliers hang from the ceilings. Ten foot high doors open up to an adjoining terrace that overlooks the north side of the property and provides a great view of the waterfall feature. With the doors open, this makes a great spot for an indoor/outdoor reception experience for you and your guests.
From the Catalonia Terrace, there's an elegant double staircase that leads down to the lawn and waterfall area. Not only do I love this spot for great wedding photography, but it's also convenient if you're having guests move to or from the lawn to the Catalonia Terrace for cocktail hour.
Other Noteworthy Features
Some other great benefits of hosting your wedding at Marbella Country Club include access to a spacious bridal suite, onsite parking and valet parking options, wonderful in-house cuisine and in-house bar services.
The bridal suite is good size and includes a full length mirror, a long vanity area where multiple people can get ready at once, comfortable chairs, and even a televsion. One down side is that there is no windows, so there isn't any natural light coming in, but having a professional photographer who's good with flash photography could easily create a soft natural look for you during getting ready photos.
Like many wedding venues, Marbella does include tables, chairs, and linens as part of your event services, which is nice because it's one less thing to worry about while you're planning. The venue also handles post-wedding cleanup so that you're covered after the party is over too.
Another great bonus feature is the grand piano located in the lobby area, near one of the built in bars Marbella has. There's a beautiful fireplace here too, and comfortable seating, it makes a great spot for cocktail hour.
Because Marbella Country Club is within a private community, there may be some time limitations for outdoor music and sound, if your event is mostly indoors, it shouldn't be a problem!
Wedding Photography at Marbella Country Club
With the beautiful Mediterreanean architecture, rolling hills, and beautifully manicured property, every inch of this venue makes for beautiful wedding photos! As a wedding photographer, I can say this venue feels like a creative playground to us!
One popular spot for photos is right out front by the large ornate fountain. In the same area there's a cute little hallway framed by the building's arches, and a quiet little courtyard just in front of the entrance.
Inside the venue, the elegant decor of the lobby and bar areas make for great photos as well! As a wedding photographer who loves making creative shots for my clients, these less commonly photographed spots would be perfect for creating some unique wedding portraits at this venue!
Outside, the double staircase behind the Catalonia Room & Terrace is so grand, it's at must photograph spot for any couple getting married here! From the same area, if you turn to face opposite the stairs, you'll see a beautiful view of the waterfall (shown in the picture above).

If you're hosting guests from out of town, there are lots of great places to stay and things to do nearby!
Not too far away guests can enjoy luxurious accomodations at The Laguna Cliffs Marriott or the incredible Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel.
If guests are in town for an extra day or two, they can spend a day exploring the Historic Mission San Juan Capistrano and the quaint Los Rios district that surrounds it.
Also nearby is the beautiful town of Laguna Beach, which features tons of great places to eat and shop, and of course, some of the most beautiful beaches in Orange County!
