Weddings at Shade Hotel Redondo Beach can be as intimate as a 30-person gathering or as large as a 200-guest seated celebration, with a pool deck, a sunset rooftop, and an indoor-outdoor ballroom to choose from. If you’re comparing Southern California venues, this guide covers each space, its capacity, and what the ceremony and reception packages include, so you can decide whether it fits your day.
Below you’ll find a breakdown of every event space, a plain-English look at the package inclusions, the hotel’s timing, cost, and vendor policies, who the venue suits best, and questions worth asking before you book.
One note before you dive in: this guide is based on the hotel’s published wedding details and my own venue notes. Pricing, availability, and policies can change, so confirm specifics directly with the hotel.
Wedding Spaces at Shade Hotel Redondo Beach
Shade Hotel offers several distinct spaces, so the right one depends on your guest count and the atmosphere you want.
Aquadeck
The Aquadeck is the hotel’s pool deck, and it can be rented for private parties. It’s the largest space by square footage, which makes it a fit for couples picturing a relaxed, open-air celebration for up to 150 guests.
Sky Level
Sky Level is an open rooftop terrace with views of the sunset and the marina, and it seats up to 200 guests. The space has its own bar with 24 beers on tap. If golden-hour light is high on your wish list, this is the one to look at first.
Horizon Level
Horizon Level combines an indoor ballroom with an outdoor area. Inside, you’ll find 14-foot ceilings and wood-look tile flooring. It holds up to 250 guests standing, so it works well for cocktail-style receptions or larger guest lists. Like Sky Level, it has its own bar serving 24 beers on tap.
Blu Room & Green Room
These two boardroom-style rooms sit in the main hotel building, the Blu Room on the second floor and the Green Room on the third. Each has tall glass doors that open onto a private balcony. They work well as a getting-ready space for the wedding party, and they can also host a small gathering of 25 to 40 guests, depending on the room and layout.
The hotel’s wedding brochure also lists Sea Level, its on-site waterfront restaurant, as an event option. It is 5,600 square feet and is listed for 250 to 350 seated guests or 300 to 500 for a cocktail reception.
What’s Included in the Ceremony Package
The ceremony package covers the essentials for saying your vows, so you aren’t renting basics separately. Every ceremony package includes:
A complimentary night in a Deluxe King Suite for your wedding night (the hotel’s brochure says this comes with a ceremony and reception package, and guest reviews say both events need to be held at the hotel)
A day-of dressing room for getting ready, with a private restroom, mirrors (including a full-length one), stools for hair and makeup, a lounge area, a gown rack and steamer, and a way to play your own music
Ivory leather-and-wood chairs for your guests
Lounge seating and firepits, two groupings on each floor
A sound system with a microphone and stand so every guest can hear your vows
A table for gifts and the guestbook where guests can sign in as they arrive
An easel to display a framed photo or a custom sign
Floor-length Ivory linens
Flameless LED tea lights and glass votive holders for a warm, romantic glow
A 60-minute rehearsal at the venue, subject to availability
Setup and teardown by hotel staff, so you and your family aren’t handling it on the day
What’s Included in the Reception Package
The reception package covers dining, seating, and décor basics, with a floor plan built around your plans for the night. Every reception package includes:
White china, stemware, silverware, and ivory cloth napkins
Ivory leather-and-wood chairs, or Chiavari chairs (upgrade fees apply)
Lounge seating and firepits, two groupings on each floor
A mix of tables: cocktail high-tops, round dining tables, a cake table and a DJ table
Floor-length Ivory linens
Table numbers and stands from the hotel
A custom floor plan laid out around how you want the night to flow
Flameless LED tea lights and glass votive holders to set a soft mood
Coffee service
Because the essentials are covered, you can focus your budget on the details that make the day feel like yours, such as florals, music, and photography.
Is Shade Hotel Redondo Beach Right for Your Wedding?
This venue tends to suit couples who:
Want views. The rooftop terrace looks out over the sunset and the marina.
Prefer an all-in-one location. Getting ready, the ceremony, the reception and a hotel suite can all happen in one place.
Have a mid-sized guest list. The main wedding spaces range from 25 to 250 guests, depending on seated or standing layouts.
Want flexibility. The ballroom offers both indoor and outdoor space, and the pool deck gives a more casual option.
Like a done-for-you setup. Between them, the ceremony and reception packages cover furniture, linens, lighting, and setup and breakdown.
If you’re planning a very large wedding with a fully seated dinner for more than 200 guests, check the capacity of your preferred space against your final guest count early on.
What to Know Before You Book
The hotel shares many of its policies in its 2026 wedding brochure and on its weddings page. Here is what those sources say as of October 2026. Policies and prices can change, so confirm everything with the hotel.
Event Times and Length
Daytime events run from 10 AM to 3 PM, and evening events run from 5 PM to 12 AM, with some restrictions.
Ceremony plus reception: 5 hours. Reception only: 4 hours.
Additional hours cost extra and are billed on top of the minimum spend.
The brochure also notes that outside events must wrap by 10 PM, so ask how that applies to the rooftop and terrace spaces.
Costs and Payment
The hotel requires an event minimum spend. The brochure doesn’t list the amount, so you’ll need to request it.
A 30% deposit confirms your date. It is non-refundable.
The remaining estimated balance must be paid 12 business days ahead of your event.
Food and drink pricing can shift with market costs and is finalized about 12 days out.
A mandatory 25% service charge is added on top, along with sales tax. Packages can be customized, and the listed package prices don’t include that charge.
Catering, Vendors and Rules
Catering is in-house. You can’t bring in an outside caterer, though specialty desserts from elsewhere are allowed.
Reception styles include plated, buffet, moving reception, and cocktail reception, and the hotel offers private tastings.
Outside vendors are allowed, but a certificate of insurance (COI) is required.
Security is required for events with 50 or more guests.
Parking, Guest Rooms and Getting Ready
Valet parking is available for an additional fee. You can also arrange hosted valet for your guests, which is billed in addition to the minimum spend. The hotel lists overnight valet at $45 per night, subject to change.
The hotel has 54 guest rooms. Your guests can get a discounted rate for your wedding weekend, and you can request a room block, which requires a contract. The more rooms you book, the bigger the discount.
The day-of dressing room is included with ceremony packages and costs $750 plus service charge and tax for other events, according to the brochure.
The hotel offers ADA-accessible guest rooms.
Questions Still Worth Asking
The hotel doesn’t publish these details, so bring them to your tour or inquiry call:
What is the event minimum spend for each space, day of the week, and season?
Which dates are open for the space I want?
What bar package options are available, and can I bring my own wine or champagne for a fee?
What is the backup plan if the weather affects the rooftop or terrace?
Are there décor or lighting restrictions, such as rules on candles, signage, or florals?
How accessible are the event spaces themselves, including routes to the rooftop?
How early can my photographer and vendors access the space for setup and portraits?
What does the required security cost for a wedding of my size?
