The winners and awards of the International Photography Awards 2023 were just announced and I was delighted to receive the news that one of my bridal portraits was awarded Honorable Mention under the Professional -People: Weddings category.
What is IPA? International Photography Awards is a global competition for professional, amateur, and student photographers that takes place annually.
Why compete? Honestly, I didn't compete in photography competitions for many years because I didn't understand the value of it. Now, I try to participate often in photography competitions in order to continue growing as a photographer. There is so much to learn from critiques and viewing the work of the other entrants as well. Competitions help to refine skills and provide an additional layer of assurance to my clients that they're getting a photographer who's serious about the craft. Lastly, it's fun to participate, so why not?
