I’m pretty sure it’s no secret at this point that I LOVE working as a photographer. I love that photography gives me a creative outlet to enjoy, a gift I can share with others and the coolest thing about photography is that there are SO MANY facets and genres. There’s always something new to explore and experiment with whether it’s style, genre or technique!

My absolute favorite genre (I’m sure you can guess!) is wedding photography, obviously. Ha! My second favorite is photographing engagement sessions and anniversary shoots.

Lately, I’ve had a lot of couples opting for beach engagement sessions (which are classic and I totally adore) but, I started to feel like I wanted to switch things up with something different. So I contacted one of my past couples and we decided to plan a Downtown LA photo shoot!

When we discussed outfits, I mentioned to Aaron and Veronica (my lovely models) that I was envisioning a formal look. To me, I think it just pops against tthe city. Veronica found a stunning gown for our session at Rent the Runway– I totally recommend them if you’re looking for a special occasion dress, but don’t want to buy something you’re only going to wear once! Veronica also had these AMAZING bright pink, almost fuschia, colored heels that completed the look perfectly! Woot!

We chose to go with some of the more popular spots because well, they’re classic, and we loved the architecture and city scene. So we started our session at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. I really really like this place because it has such a cool design and makes for an epic backdrop for engagement photos. I love the way the sunset reflected off of the building in the shot below. Swoon!
Downtown LA Photo Shoot at Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angles, CA Unfortunately, we weren’t able to access the garden area of the concert hall since they had an event going, so we decided to move on and explore the surrounding area for some other cool scenes!   They tried to give me their best “Blue Steel” faces…..but that just made them laugh! Once the sun started to go down we were able to get creative with some dramatic nighttime photos. There’s just something magical about that Los Angeles skyline, don’t you think? Downtown LA Photo Shoot. DTLA Skyline
